I used to fall asleep on the couch and wake up to the 21 Day Fix infomercials. I’d watch them and go “no, not for me.” I saw my Facebook friends raving about it and trying to get people to join them and I still said it wasn’t for me. One of my coworkers was doing the 21df and again, I said “no, not for me.”
I did my research on the program. I read reviews, I watched YouTube videos. I read both the positive and negative things about it. I was starting to lean towards yes when I saw an awful pic of myself and said that enough was enough. And then my journey began.
They say it takes 21 days to break a bad habit. That’s what this program is really about. It’s helping you break those bad habits we all have when it comes to eating and exercising.
One of the best things about this program is how simple it really is. There’s no weighing and measuring. You don’t count calories; you count “colories.” You get 6 colored containers which each represent a food group.
Red= Protein
Orange= nuts , seeds, and dressings
Yellow= carbs
Green= veggies
Blue= healthy fats
Purple= fruits
The containers are there to portion out your foods. You are allotted so many based on your weight. Right now every day I should be having 6 red, 1 orange, 4 yellow, 6 green, 1 blue and 4 purple. There are so many foods out there that you can eat. I have yet to feel deprived of anything and I still make time for my little splurges. I generally plan my food for the week ahead of time so I make sure that I get it all in. It’s honestly a ton of food!
The workout that comes with it are two DVDs. There are 7 different workouts, each being a half hour long. They go by quickly and the trainer, Autumn Calabrese, is a spitfire and I would love to have her as a friend. it’s only a half hour it’s 2% of your day and you feel great afterwards. They work all your muscle groups and offer modified versions and tips to how to make it harder because the stronger you become the easier it seems.
The last part of the plan is the Shakeology. I’m sure, like me, you’ve tried protein shakes that you can get at GNC and Wholefoods and even the grocery store. I was speculative at first because like anything that’s good for you, it is expensive, I won’t lie. ) I ordered mine while they were having a sale (which just happens to be the same promo they’re running until Saturday) where you can get the shakeology and the 21df for the cost of just the Shakeology
I couldn’t decide what flavor I wanted (there’s six flavors –chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, greenberry, vegan chocolate and vegan strawberry. In 2016 they’re introducing a coffee flavor) so I got a chocolate vanilla strawberry pack. Every morning I have one. There are so many recipes out there and like Autumn says, it feels like a cheat meal because it’s so good. Not only does it keep my full for a long time, but the effects it’s had on my energy and concentration is amazing. I have ADHD and ever since I started drinking it my coworkers have noticed how much more I was relaxed and how much more work I was doing and how I was handling customers. For curiosity sake, after my first 21 days I went back to my old whey protein. I felt crappy those two weeks. So back to shakeology I went.
Everyone asks what makes it different than what you can get other places. Even without going into it, the proof is right there, you just feel better. It’s much cleaner and healthier for your system. There are so many superfoods in it. It’s backed by doctors and honestly our CEO drinks it every day. But to get the amount of stuff in it elsewhere you’d have to buy other shakes and a boatload of supplements. To me, even when money is tight, it’s worth it because I’m worth it.
That’s my long winded description of the program.
Honestly, one of the best things about this program is the people. I’m in a challenge group right now and the women are amazing (this program is predominately women, but Beachbody has so many programs to offer) they’ve helped me every step of the way. Which is why I became a coach.
